2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 Convertible
Finished in Arctic White over an Ebony leather interior with a black power tonneau-covered soft top, this 2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 Convertible presents as a genuine time-capsule example of one of the last great American muscle cars, showing just 14,000 original miles from new.
Under the WS6’s signature Ram Air hood sits the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 — the same Corvette-derived engine that transformed the fourth-generation Firebird when it arrived in 1998. In WS6 trim, the LS1 is fed by functional Ram Air induction scoops and breathes through a specific low-restriction dual exhaust system, producing 325 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through a 4-speed automatic transmission with a Positraction limited-slip differential.
The WS6 Performance and Handling Package adds a tuned suspension with multiple compact CD changer, 17-inch high-polished aluminum wheels wrapped in P275/40ZR17 speed-rated tires, and the complete performance suspension tune that sets the WS6 apart from the standard Trans Am. The convertible body includes a power top with a leather-wrapped tonneau cover — a combination that made the WS6 ragtop one of the most desirable configurations in the Firebird’s entire production run.
Inside, the Ebony leather cabin is equipped with reclining articulating bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated radio controls, tilt steering column, folding rear seat, and Pontiac’s Monsoon Premium 8-speaker sound system with AM/FM stereo, CD player, and cassette — all original. Additional features include air conditioning, power windows, and door locks with retained accessory power, remote keyless entry, vehicle content theft alarm, automatic lighting control, retractable halogen headlamps with fog lamps, and a power antenna. The original Monroney window sticker accompanies the car.
The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was discontinued after the 2002 model year and never revived, making clean, low-mileage WS6 convertibles increasingly difficult to find. This Arctic White example — with its documented 14.4K miles and original window sticker — represents a compelling opportunity for the serious Pontiac collector.
